Love for Loro City Wide Garage Sale
Date and Time
Friday, May 5th - Saturday, May 6th
2009 Airport Blvd.
Austin, TX 78721
Love for Loro is a Front Porch/Window initiative that seeks to put shoes on the feet of the children at the Loro Primary School in Northern Uganda through the efforts of their young counterparts here in Austin. Through efforts with churches and youth groups, school classes and clubs, and other organizations, kids, teens and adults alike have already put months of effort into raising money for the village, and we’re pleased to announce that we’re well on our way to reaching our goal of $35,000 to purchase both shoes and menstrual kits. We’re pleased to announce that we’re ready to purchase the menstrual kits in full: however, we’re still striving toward our goal of $30,000 toward the shoes. That’s why we need your donations and support leading up to and during The Love for Loro City Wide Garage Sale on May 5th and May 6th at East Space (2009 Airport Blvd.) from 8AM to 8PM each day.
We implore all of you out there join us in this effort and this specific event! Whether it’s through helping with the prep work, donating your used and/or new items, or just shopping at the sale itself in May, we’d so love any partnering effort at all from anyone in achieving this goal of helping those in Loro. See what you can do below.
Here’s what you can do to help:
1. DONATE YOUR STUFF! What’s a garage sale without things to sell? We desperately need all shelf-sitting items around your house that you aren’t using. If you’ve been looking for a chance to clear out anything at all, chances are, we need it. See below a list for drop-off zones and ideas of items to donate (and a short list of things we won’t take). Donations can be made at the drop zones no later Wednesday, May 3.
Items needed are clothes, furniture, collectibles, musical instruments, electronics, books, movies, games, office supplies, accessories, jewelry, tools, kitchenware, dishes, toys, sporting goods, tents and tarps, lawncare/gardening items, bikes, skateboards, and more.
We’ll refuse: weapons, fireworks, anything illegal, magazines (unless proven collectible), used socks or underwear,
Drop off locations include:
DROP ZONE A: EAST SPACE (2009 Airport Blvd.) All large items (over 50 lbs.) and furniture must be dropped off here. All items accepted. ITEMS ACCEPTED from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 7 days-a-week, starting on March 23. Not available on holidays. Drop items in the back of the building, behind the Lone Star Family Market.
DROP ZONE B: ALL SAINTS’ EPISCOPAL CHURCH (209 W. 27th St.) No furniture or large items. Please drop all items in the foyer or in the church office. ITEMS ACCEPTED from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mon-Thurs, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, starting April 17. Not available on holidays.
For any questions, please contact Riley Webb, LFL Program Coordinator at 936-635-6393 or email@example.com.
2. DONATE YOUR TIME in April and During the Sale
We’ll be hosting at least three afternoons of prep work in April to help prepare ourselves for the big weekend, and, of course, we’ll need volunteers to staff the garage sale itself in May. The following dates are open opportunities to help us get organized in April. If you’d like more information, or you’re interested in volunteering during the sale, please email Riley Webb at firstname.lastname@example.org.
