Notes

Kevin Tuerff was flying on a plane from France to New York when two others crashed into the World Trade Center Buildings. At The Front Porch this Sunday, we’ll hear the story of how his life changed forever following the experience of spending 9/11 and several subsequent days as one of nearly 7,000 refugees who descended on the small town of Gander, Newfoundland in the aftermath of the most infamous terror attack in recent U.S. history. Come hear from the man himself a powerful story that’s inspired a speaking tour, a book, and a Broadway musical, as well as hope and goodwill to all who listen.

Last summer, Wendy Colonna married the love of her life, Ryan Doty, and on June 11th, they welcomed their first son, Charlieinto the world! Between those two blessed dates, she still managed to complete and release her most acclaimed album yet. No Moment But Now has had tunes simultaneously featured on Apple Music’s “Hot Tracks” and “Breaking Singer Songwriter Playlist,” as well as Spotify’s “Fresh Folk” playlist. Wendy’s critical acclaim is flowing in from multiple outlets, including The New York Times, Black Fret, and the Kerrville Folk Festival, where she was named a 2017 New Folk Finalist. The Austin American-Statesman long ago recognized Wendy as “Austin’s Best Singer/Songwriter.”

Since 2012, The Front Porch has hosted pub church, complete with live music, food & drink, open conversation and Communion. This fall, we’ll meet each Sunday at 5:30 PM in the Parish Hall at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, partnering with Strange Land Brewery and local food vendors to bring the pub to the church. We hope to see you there for the same program you’ve come to expect from us, complete with food, drink, conversation, live music, and communion.
