In a special celebration, we’ll host Plant with Purpose Executive Director, Scott Sabin, local guitar virtuoso, Paul Finley, and Biointegrity founder, Chris Searles, for another installment of our series on beauty. Join us at Scholz Garten at 5:30 on April 23rd for a new edition of Pub Church with an Earth Day twist!
For over two decades, Scott Sabin has advocated for and served the rural poor around the world through sustainable community development. He has served as the Executive Director of Plant With Purpose since 1995. During his tenure, Plant With Purpose has grown from a single program in one country to include more than 500 communities across seven countries.
Scott is also a leader in addressing the intersection of faith, justice, and the environment. His book, Tending to Eden: Environmental Stewardship for God’s People, was a finalist for Christianity Today’s Book of the Year Awards. Scott also served seven years in the United States Navy, and he holds a degree in Political Science from Oregon State University and a Master of International Relations from the University of San Diego. Scott and his wife Nancy have two children, Amanda and Danny.
Paul Finley has been teaching guitar for over 25 years. He has performed for many years in Austin as a soloist, a theater musician, a children’s performer, and with an Austin Celtic and Cajun band (Glenn Glaz/Bayou Beaujolais), and has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Phil Keaggy. You can also find him backing up artists like Gina Chavez, Todd Garza, Anyah Dishon, Dave Thies, and Daniel Makins live and in the studio. His soundtracks have been used in documentaries, websites, presentations and commercials for Milwaukee Public Museum, U.W. Milwaukee, Arizona State Parks, Anasazi Foundation, Imagine Art, Sun Pop Studio productions, author Keith Miller and other regional commercials & television. He both teaches at One Day Academy and offers private lessons.
Chris Searles founded Biointegrity in 2015. A for-profit organization that offers “global Solutions to global problems,” Biointegrity connects potential donors to environmental stewardship and restoration opportunities of global proportions, and Chris is a champion in protecting and restoring forests around the globe. He will join us in kicking off our pub church dialogue this Sunday.
