Cipher hip hop imageJoin us for the third installment of our Lenten series “Art and the Other: Can We See Each Other?” at All Saints’ Episcopal Church.

Performance poetry is a powerful creative force in contemporary culture. While many may think of poetry as words on a page, young rap, hip-hop, and spoken word artists bring the rhythm of rhyme to life. Taking to the microphone in nightclubs and bars, in cafes and community centers, these postmodern prophets use poetry as a means for political protest, cultural commentary, and social change.

Come experience “the spoken word revolution” with Ariana Brown, founder of the Fresh Ink Youth Poetry Slam and the UT Spitshine Slam, Shannon Sandrea, founder of The Cipher Hip-Hop Project, and hip-hop artists Darrion ChiTown Borders, J ReDD, and Breez Bza Smith.
